One of the most popular uses of Twitter is tracking. However, the sheer design of the website is not enough to track the hottest topics. After all, updating is done in real time. So there is really no time to track everything.

That is the job that a website called Tweet Meme had decided to take. It takes the hottest links on Twitter and counts the retweets. From there, it decides the popularity of the topics. This is very useful for it is like combining Digg and Twitter.

What does this track?

It tracks the number of retweets on a topic. It also adds a feature of easy retweets so finding topics to retweet will not be a chore anymore.

How is this site useful?

Well, as for me who are always on the lookout for Twitter topics that are worth retweeting, this site helps me filter out the good links from the bad ones (Yes, it is just like Digg). This is also a nice way to promote your story or blog post considering that your posts are Twitter user-friendly and not spam-like.

Disadvantages I have found

Like what I said above, the option for story submission will make the website prone to spam. But aside from that, the advantages pretty much outweighs the disadvantages. After all, putting together two popular sites (Digg and Twitter) is just genius.

Aside from all the good things I have indicated above, I would also like to commend the widgets which you can conveniently place in your blog to track the retweets. This will give you a nice overview on how your blog is faring with Twitter users.
